Welcome to worship at Christ Mertz in Fleetwood, Pennsylvania. Today is All Saints Sunday, and we start at the baptismal font, remembering that we belong to a lot more people than the ones sitting in the pews with us. We give thanks for one person baptized this past year and for four who publicly affirmed their baptism, and then we say the baptismal creed together. Whether you’re in the sanctuary or watching from home, we’re glad you’re here.
What’s in this service
At communion we read the names of members, friends, and family who have died since last All Saints Sunday, along with names the congregation has given us from the Book of Remembrance. A handbell chimes once after each name. The candles on the candelabra are lit in their memory. The readings give us the Beatitudes and Revelation’s picture of the great multitude in white, and we sing “Shall We Gather at the River” as the Hymn of the Day and close with “Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In.”
