On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus did something no one expected: he got down on his knees and washed his disciples’ feet. No grand speech, no miracle — just a basin of water and the hands of a servant. Maundy Thursday takes its name from Jesus’ command that night: “Love one another as I have loved you.” We gather to hear that command, to share in the Lord’s Supper, and — if you’re willing — to wash and be washed in an act of humility that is as strange and powerful today as it was then. This is the night the Three Days begin. Whether you’ve observed Holy Week for decades or are coming for the first time, there is room for you at this table.
