Holy Week: Good Friday Worship

Why do we call it Good Friday? Because we know how the story ends. But we’re not there yet. Good Friday is the day we sit with the weight of the cross — the arrest, the trial, the nails, the words “It is finished.” John’s gospel tells the story not as a defeat but as a strange and costly victory: the one who is crucified as a criminal is, in the same moment, reigning as king. We gather on this day to hear that story, to pray for a broken world, and to reverence the cross on which hung Christ, the savior of the whole world. It is a quiet, spare, and profound service — one that takes the darkness seriously so that Easter can mean what it means. All are welcome.
