Welcome, whoever you are and however you got here — out of habit, out of hope, or somewhere in between. Christ Mertz is a congregation that takes faith seriously and itself only moderately so, and we’re glad you’re joining us, whether that’s from a pew or a screen.
Today’s texts center on the image of the watchman — someone charged with telling the truth before it’s too late to matter. Ezekiel hears it as a call to warn a weary, guilt-worn people that God takes no pleasure in anyone’s death. Paul, in Romans, reframes it as a debt of love that’s never fully paid off. And Jesus, in Matthew, gives his followers an actual process for confronting wrong and seeking reconciliation, rather than either silence or public blowup. We come to the table today as people who’ve been warned, turned, and fed — sent back out to watch for one another.
