Ash Wednesday marks the start of this transformative season where we step away from distractions and turn our hearts toward God. \nWhat to Expect\nAsh Wednesday is the first day of Lent\, occurring 46 days before Easter (minus 6 Sundays equals 40 Days). During this service\, ashes made from last year’s Palm Sunday palm fronds are placed on foreheads with the words: “Remember you are dust and to dust you will return” or “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” \nThis ancient practice invites us to acknowledge our humanity\, embrace our need for God’s grace\, and begin a season of repentance and renewal. \nWhy Lent Matters\nLent offers a 40-day reset from constant stimulation and distraction. Drawing from John Mark Comer’s book Practicing the Way\, we’ll dive into practices like solitude\, prayer\, Sabbath\, simplicity\, and community. The idea? Transformation isn’t about white-knuckling your way to holiness—it’s about putting yourself in places where change happens naturally. \nWhether you’re a longtime churchgoer or simply curious about the Christian faith\, you’re welcome.
