Good Friday is the day we sit with the weight of the cross — the arrest\, the trial\, the nails\, the words “It is finished.” John’s gospel tells the story not as a defeat but as a strange and costly victory: the one who is crucified as a criminal is\, in the same moment\, reigning as king. We gather on this day to hear that story\, to pray for a broken world\, and to reverence the cross on which hung Christ\, the savior of the whole world. It is a quiet\, spare\, and profound service — one that takes the darkness seriously so that Easter can mean what it means.
