Cyber Fraud, Scams, and Prevention

July 14, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Cyber Fraud, Scams, and Prevention

According to Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, “Cybercrime is a fast-growing area of crime. More and more criminals are exploiting the Internet’s speed, convenience, and anonymity to commit a diverse range of criminal activities that know no borders, either physical or virtual.”

One of the most grieved segments of society is seniors. The Brandywine/Topton area churches want to give our seniors tools to stay informed and aware.

On July 14, 2022, “Chew On This – Lunch and Discussion” will tackle the ongoing issue of cyber fraud, scams, and prevention. David Shallcross, Director of Senior Protection Unit, Office of Public Engagement, PA Office of Attorney General, along with Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, will:

  • present a presentation that will help identify the most common types of scams,
  • offer tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud,
  • provide information on how to identify the mechanics of what makes a scam work against you, and
  • dispense tips on where and when to report attempts of fraud and scams.

Lunch is free although a freewill offering will be available to help defray the cost of the meal. Please make a reservation by calling (610) 682-7664 or email at christ@christmertz.org.
